bookmark_borderWhy Ares Galaxy Is One Of The Best P2 P Solutions For File Sharing

By Jason Bacot

Peer to peer, or P2P software allows people to connect from one computer to another in a network. The connection may be over the internet, or it may be done in a local network in your home, office, or over a university network, for example. With P2P software, your computer acts as both client and server, allowing people to communicate directly with each other.

One of the reasons that people like P2P networks is that with every computer functioning as a server and client, it is highly unlikely that an entire network would suffer a catastrophic failure. These networks can also be configured with firewalls and other forms of protection to keep exchanges confidential, which can be useful when, for example, sending company sensitive information from one office to another.

Some of the legitimate reasons that people use P2P software like the extremely popular Ares Galaxy software, include the exchange of materials between writers and editors, songwriters and producers, and among programmers collaborating on writing software. People even use P2P software over the web for communicating with far flung friends as an alternative to phoning.

Ares Galaxy is one of the most popular and highest rated file sharing programs available from what I have seen. The Ares download lets users share unlimited numbers of files, whether the files are music, videos, documents, software, or images. The download is free, and the software is open source, so programmers who want to alter the source code to customize the software for their unique uses can download the source code easily.

The latest version of Ares is compatible with torrent files. These are files that are divided into sections among numerous users and downloaded simultaneously, allowing very fast download speeds. The Ares free download includes a library organizer so that you can organize your files by type or title, and it also includes a preview feature so that you can view or listen to files as they are being downloaded rather than having to wait for the download to be complete. It also includes a fully functional media player so you can play the files that are being downloaded.

Another popular feature of Ares is that the latest version supports Shoutcast radio stations. This is a free way for people to broadcast audio from their PC to listeners on the internet (or any other IP-based network, such as a college or office network), either live, or with archived material. The software is responsible for receiving audio from your own broadcast source, updating the Shoutcast directory with information about the content, and sending the feed to listeners.

The free Ares download is legal and easy to use on any computer, including computers used in businesses, and it does not require registration in order to use it. Installing Ares Galaxy is very simple. Simply download the installation file, run the setup file, and the installation is automatic. No need to configure it, either. Once you run the setup file, it’s ready to go. Ares runs on all commonly-used Windows versions including Windows 7, Vista, and 64-bit versions.

Halifax, Nova Scotia

Following the first major snow storm of the season, several cars were reported to be ‘entrapped’ by slick ice in the seaside city of Halifax, Nova Scotia. The ice was believed to be created when the snow, which fell during the night of December 9-10, was packed down by successive cars and trucks passing over it. By morning, several areas of the city had patches of slippery, low-traction crystalline water lying in wait for the next unsuspecting motor vehicle to pass over them. Soon enough, your correspondent witnessed cars which had slowed to a stop or were parked find that, try as they might, they were unable to move forward on the ice and were therefore stuck.

Luckily, most of the cars were able to extricate themselves after either slowly accelerating in a low gear, or ‘rocking’ the car back-and-forth to build up momentum. No one was reported injured, and the only damage believed to be done was the excessive wear and tear on the entrapped vehicles.

US adds 173,000 jobs in August; unemployment rate drops to seven year low

Monday, September 7, 2015

The US economy added 173,000 jobs in August, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported on Friday. The unemployment rate fell from 5.3 to 5.1 percent, the lowest since April 2008.

Although August job gains were lower than most economists forecast, job growth numbers for June and July were revised upwards by a combined 44,000. Average job gains over the past three months stand at 221,000, compared to March-May’s 189,000 monthly average. Over the past twelve months, job growth has averaged 247,000 per month.

Average hourly earnings rose 0.3 percent, or 8 cents, marking the largest increase in earnings in seven months. Hourly earnings had risen by 6 cents in July. Wages have risen by 2.2 percent over the past year.

Job growth in August was primarily concentrated in the health care and social assistance, financial activities, and professional and business services sectors. Those three areas of the economy added a combined 108,000 jobs. Food service and drinking places employment increased by 26,000 over the month, and other economic sectors saw employment hold steady. Manufacturing, on the other hand, saw employment decline by 17,000 in August. A stronger dollar and worldwide economic weakness make US exports less desirable, leading to a flattening in manufacturing employment so far this year after steadily rising in the early years of the US economic recovery.

The solid overall job gains led analysts to slightly raise expectations for a decision by the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates this month. Investors raised the likelihood of a September rate increase from 26 percent before the jobs report to 30 percent, and stocks dropped by over one percent on Friday. “The payrolls data is certainly good enough to allow for a Fed rate hike in September,” said Deutsche Bank’s head of currency strategy, Alan Ruskin. “The big question is still whether financial market volatility will scupper the plans.”

“This is the first time the market has looked at a Fed meeting and really has no idea what the Fed is going to do,” said Mark Kepner, a New Jersey equity trader with Themis Trading. “Right now you’re looking at the overall uncertainty and that’s what’s hanging on the market. I don’t think this number in and of itself changes how somebody’s going to vote.”

British Prime Minister David Cameron makes unannounced visit to Libya

Friday, February 1, 2013

British Prime Minister David Cameron made an unannounced visit to the Libyan capital city of Tripoli yesterday after visiting Algeria earlier in the day.

David Cameron pledged that Britain would help in training Libya’s security forces. He said in a joint press conference held with Libyan Prime Minister Ali Zeidan that “the British people want to stand with you and help you deliver the greater security that Libya needs”. Cameron also reiterated his support for the French-backed intervention in Mali, denying suggestions put to him that foreign intervention in Islamic countries would lead to a backlash against Western nations by al-Qaeda.

The security was tight during his walkabout in the Martyrs’ Square, where police attempted to hold back the locals as a police helicopter flew overhead. His visit to Tripoli comes in the aftermath of recent threats to the British embassy and just a week after British citizens were urged to leave the second largest city of Benghazi due to a “specific and imminent” threat to Westerners.

Police officers investigating the 1988 Lockerbie bombing from the Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary have been granted access to new information to help them with their inquiries. In 2001, Abdelbaset al-Megrahi was convicted of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment but was released in 2009 on compassionate health grounds and died last year.

bookmark_borderThe Digital Descrambler: Now A Reality?

Submitted by: Marcus Bush

If you’re a long time cable user similar to myself, you recollect the pre-digital era with “descramblers”. This is not that. What we have here is completely different also thankfully so. All digital and without the necessity for significant boxes of the past, this innovative method is fully legal to use and have possession of, though legally you will want to let your cable company aware you’re using it for testing reasons only.

This new tool is identified as a ‘cable box filter’ and what separates this from a descrambler is that it doesn’t attempt to obtain unauthorized channels, which is unlawful. The cable filter does not descramble or unscramble anything. What it does is filter the signal exiting the box. The filter will allow the incoming signal, at the same time as delaying the signal leaving the box for as long as it is attached. How will this effect you?

When a Pay-Per-View command is initiated, the cable box activates the purchased PPV event, whereas concurrently transferring the order records to the cable company. Toss this bad boy on and the signal carrying the details will in no way be received by the cable company servers. This ought to make some sense to you now. Seeing as it isn’t trying to decipher networks and is simply dealing with the signal, it is protected by means of federal law seeing as it is deemed “testing equipment”. In most states you ll have to contact your company and let them know that you have ordered the Pay-per-view event.

So up until now this all appears pretty easy. Toss this on the back of your box then proceed to order up a storm with all the OnDemand and PPV stuff you like. Looks like a great plan, however there’s a smidgen more to it then that.

The memory designed into the box stores orders initiated and will try to send the information saved within the memory, out. Yet again, the filter doesn’t effect the memory, only the signal. If you’d aim to use this appropriately, you’d need a tad more information. Subsequently because of this, there are a few points of wisdom to consider.

When you’re building thousands or large numbers of boxes, memory can turn out to be costly, therefore boxes are given the bare minimum amount needed to work. Because of this the memory fills a good deal quicker then you’d think and cable boxes deal with memory being full in unique ways.

Some cable boxes without human intervention clear out the order record every 30-90 days (dependingon the cable box), but all cable boxes can become full. When the memory is full, you can either wait your ninety days or you can clear the memory manually.

A “manual clear” as it’s often called is the best method. You will want to comprehend what to carry out just in case, but it often varies as a result of cable box operating system and producer. Erasing the memory for testing your equipment goes uncomplicated once you know how. The details on how, arrives with the filters thus no need to worry because of that. Your memory holds your records and can legally be erased as long as the provider is aware you are doing this for testing. After all, you pay a month-to-month charge for your cable box, so you’re legally permitted to verify and make certain it is functioning properly.

Satellite buyers are unfortunately missing out of the celebration, but perhaps they will have a little added luck going in the future. Cable television viewers on the other hand have more money left in their wallet than usual.

Thought-controlled cybernetic arms demonstrated

Friday, September 15, 2006

Jesse Sullivan has two cybernetic arms, after electrical burns suffered while working as an electrical utility lineman resulted in amputation of both his arms at the shoulder. Claudia Mitchell has a similar cybernetic left arm, after a motorcycle accident resulted in amputation. Sullivan and Mitchell shook hands with these thought-controlled prosthetic arms at an event staged Thursday in Washington, D.C. by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and Center for Artificial Limbs at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.

Unlike traditional prosthetic limbs, these are actuated through muscle reinnervation; nerves are grafted onto specific muscles, controlling their contraction, which are then detected by electrode sensors and control the prosthetic limb. “Basically it is connecting the dots. Finding the nerves. We have to free the nerves and see how far they reach,” says Dr. Todd Kuiken, developer of the prostheses and director of neuroengineering at the Rehabilitation Institute. By this chain of communication the prostheses utilize thought-controlled biomechanics. According to Sullivan, “When I use the new prosthesis I just do things. I don’t have to think about it … I do all the yard work. I take out the garbage.”

DARPA, as an agency of the United States Department of Defense, seeks to eventually provide such prostheses for soldiers losing their organic limbs in combat. “We’re excited about collaborating with the military,” said Kuiken. 411 U.S. troops in Iraq and 37 in Afghanistan have had wounds that cost them at least one limb according to the Army Medical Command.

US Army to court martial soldier over three Afghan murders

Saturday, October 16, 2010

The United States Army has announced that Corporal Jeremy Morlock is to face a court martial on three charges of premeditated murder. Morlock is accused of killing Afghan civilians for sport; at least eleven other soldiers are caught up in the allegations.

The prosecution case is that Morlock colluded with Sergeant Calvin Gibbs to plot the deaths of Afghans. Gibbs is said to have planned the attacks which Morlock helped arrange by recruiting other soldiers to carry them out. The pair, as well as three others charged with murder, deny this. Gibbs’s lawyer said his client’s defence is that the Afghans were killed legitimately, while Morlock’s said his client was present but did not cause any deaths. Preliminary hearings in the case were heard last month.

The five are accused of unprovoked grenade and gun attacks. Seven other soldiers are accused of conspiring to cover up the crimes by dismemberment of the corpses and collecting body parts. No other cases have yet been committed for trial, including that of Gibbs. All the soldiers are from the 5th Stryker brigade, which went to Afghanistan last year and has seen combat in Kandahar, where the alleged attacks occurred between January and May this year.

Morlock is also going to stand trial for assault, use of a controlled substance (hashish), attempting to block an investigation, conspiracy to murder, conspiracy to assault and “wrongfully photographing and possessing visual images of human casualties”. The soldiers are accused of photographing their victims and keeping body parts as trophies, though the military has not yet commented on if bones they say the men took were in fact from civilian murder victims. Al Jazeera English reports that much media attention has focused on this detail.

The seven not charged with murder are also charged with assault and using hashish. The assault charge relates to the beating of a whistleblower. Morlock could have faced the death penalty on the premeditated murder charges, but the army has decided not to seek this sentence upon a conviction and instead the maximum sentence available is life without parole.

Officials have commented about concerns the case could have a negative impact on relations with the Afghan public, especially with regards to efforts to undermine Taliban support in Kandahar.
