bookmark_borderSigns You Need A Social Sales Trainer

byAlma Abell

It is difficult to find a person today who doesn’t have a Facebook page for interactions with friends and family. It is also very uncommon to find a business professional that doesn’t have a personal LinkedIn page, particularly if they are working for a company involved in B2B sales.

It is less common to find a company that has a well-designed business page on LinkedIn, or that accurately and effectively uses other social media platforms such as a Facebook or Twitter. For B2B sales, any social sales trainer will recommend focusing on LinkedIn as this is the most likely place to generate qualified leads, network and become a trusted resource for prospective clients.

This overwhelming interconnectedness with social media sites, at least on a personal level, can create a false sense of understanding how to use the sites for actual business to business sales and marketing. As a business owner or manager, there are important telltale signs that you need to bring a trainer in to get your staff up to speed on how to use social media marketing to your company’s advantage.

Problem Profiles

As a business manager or owner, taking the time to look at your employees’ professional profiles on LinkedIn can be an eye opening experience. A social sales trainer can work through the best development of a positive profile with the group, allowing for each staff member to make the necessary changes.

Common problematic issues include:

 • Inappropriate, low quality or silly photographs rather than professional looking photos

 • Missing photos or the use of standard placeholders

 • Incomplete summaries or inaccurate summaries

 • No headlines or no keywords in the headlines

 • Irrelevant information on the summary or history part of the profile

The company profile page should also include the use of keywords, a catchy headline and a summary with a call to action to drive qualified leads to your website.

Lack of Uniform Messaging

Another element that is important is the uniform messaging about the business throughout the profiles as well as across the corporate site. This can include missing addresses and phone numbers, old information, or incorrect information.

Other factors such as promotions, links and advertising campaigns may be incorrect across different social media sites. Your social sales trainer will teach your sales staff to monitor these issues and create a comprehensive and consistent message.

You may also find that people on your sales and marketing teams have profiles, but they really aren’t sure what to do next. The trainer can work with your staff to learn how to engage leads, generate interest and network with potential new businesses in highly effective ways.

Venezuela opens granite processing facility in Bolívar

Monday, February 18, 2013

Venezuela’s government has opened a granite processing plant in the state of Bolívar, with the intention of providing about 25% of the granite required nationwide.

Ricardo Menéndez, vice president of the Productive Economic Area, said Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez has yearned for the creation of this project to empower Venezuelan construction. Granito Bolívar is reportedly the most modern Venezuelan granite plant, not consuming community water or electricity, and is also the largest, with a daily capacity to supply enough material for use in construction of about 820 houses.

Menéndez said, “These granite blocks are the natural resources of our country, are the wealth we have as a country and often [some] simply decided to remove this richness from our country and take them to other countries” ((es))Spanish language: ?Esos bloques de granito son la riquezas naturales de nuestro país, son las riquezas que tenemos como patria y que muchas veces sencillamente esas riquezas decidieron sacarlas de nuestro territorio nacional y llevarlas a otros países.

According to Menéndez, with the help of a state plan, Venezuela intends to exploit its 40,000 million cubic meters or more of granite reserves, generating a set of factories. “[T]he central theme is that these plants, all these factories, are for the construction of socialism; that means using our potential, develop the value chain within the country and of course that yields benefits from the point of view of the production system’s organization…. [Granito] Bolívar is not only the vision that historically we had of exposing richness, but the industries, basic industries we have, that level of our workers in the basic industries and in addition the development of the potential we have in the state” ((es))Spanish language: ?el tema central es que estas plantas todas estas fábricas son para la construcción del socialismo, eso significa utilizar nuestras potencialidades, dessarrollar la cadena de valor dentro del país y por supuesto que eso genere beneficios desde el punto de vista de la organización del sistema productivo …

For the construction of the plant, supplied by 23 quarries, the government of Bolívar provided about 30 million bolívares (US$4.7 million) and the national government €2.3 million (US$3 million). Bolívar reportedly has reserves of about 40,000 million tons of red, black, pink and white granite, sufficient for domestic demand for 200 years.

5 killed as bus from New York City to Montreal crashes

Tuesday, August 29, 2006

Five passengers have died and more than a dozen are injured after a bus bound for Montreal from New York City crashed through a guard rail in upper New York state on Monday evening.

The Greyhound bus was heading north on Interstate 87 when it rolled over at around 6:45 pm before reaching Westport, New York, about half way between Albany and Montreal. Several passengers were still trapped two hours after the crash, according to the Plattsburgh Press Republican.

“All we did was try to comfort people,” said Plattsburgh Mayor Daniel Stewart. “I also did a lot of French to English translation for police. Many on the bus were tourists returning to Canada.”

The dead include a 16-year old boy and 34-year old man, both from Montreal, and a 69-year old woman from an undisclosed Canadian location. The other two victims are both from New York State including the bus driver.

Thirty-seven passengers were taken to Champlain Valley Hospital in Plattsburgh, New York, following the crash. Twenty-two were treated and released.

Two passengers were have been transferred to Montreal General Hospital where they are in intensive care. Four others are in stable condition.

Reports suggest that the bus crashed through a guard rail after passing a truck, went down an embankment and rolled at least twice before landing upside down. The rear and top of the bus were crushed and one of its back wheels was turned inward. According to Don Jaquish, deputy director of the Essex County, New York Emergency Services, many of the passengers were thrown out of the bus and landed on a grassy area nearby.

Major Richard Smith, Jr., of the New York State Police said that investigators believe a tire failure may have been a contributing factor in the crash. Survivors say they heard a loud bang before the bus lost control.

Smith said that 48 of the 52 passengers on the bus sustained injuries. Greyhound Bus No. 4014 had been due to arrive in Montreal at 9:10 pm. Many of the passengers are believed to be from the Montreal area.

The highway remained closed late Monday between Exits 30 and 31 in both directions.

Family members can call Greyhound at 1-800-972-4583 for more information.

One of Saddam Hussein’s defense lawyers thrown out of court

Monday, May 22, 2006

Bushra Khalil, one of the defense lawyers for former Iraqi President, Saddam Hussein, was thrown out of court by Chief Judge Raouf Abdel after speaking out of turn.

“The right of defence is sacred. We have never seen in our whole career a lawyer ordered out of the court room like this. We should not be treated like this, we are defending those men who defended the honour of the nation, yes they are the honour of the nation,” said an Egyptian lawyer, in court for Hussein’s defense.

Khalil was attempting to make a speech when Judge Abdel told her to stop talking. When Khalil continued to speak out of turn, Judge Abdel ordered court guards to remove her from the courtroom. Khalil then threw her lawyer’s robe onto the floor and walked out of the courtroom.

“You have to stick to the rules, you are a lawyer, you should behave by the rules,” said Judge Abdel to Khalil while she left the courtroom.

Hussein objected to the judge’s orders and protested saying, “I am Saddam Hussein, president of Iraq. I am above all.”

“You were president, now you are the defendant,” replied Judge Abdel.

This is the second time that Khalil was thrown out of the courtroom. Back in April, Judge Abdel had Khalil removed for the same reasons. This is also her first appearance in court since April’s incident.

bookmark_borderBenefits Of Getting A Jewish Education In Gaithersburg Md

byadmin

Getting a Jewish Education in Gaithersburg MD is something that some Jewish people may want for their children. While enrolled in a Jewish school, students can be taught Hebrew. Children who learn Hebrew will be able to connect to Jewish texts better. They will learn how to read both modern and sacred Jewish texts. Learning Hebrew as a second language also makes it easier for children to learn other languages in the future. This can help students become more cultured, which is important in the world where globalization is increasing. Being able to speak other languages can help with certain career paths.

People who have kids who are older shouldn’t think that it is too late for their children to get enrolled in B’nai Tzedek or any other Jewish academy in order to pursue a Jewish Education in Gaithersburg MD. It’s never too late for students to get started, and professional educators are prepared to teach all levels of students. Older kids who aren’t as proficient in Hebrew can be grouped together will other kids who are at the same level. This can help build confidence while children learn.

One thing about Jewish schools should be noted. There are schools who allow people who aren’t Jewish to attend. Why would a non-Jewish student wish to attend a Jewish school? For one, the quality of education is usually superior to the education that can be found in a public school. Jewish schools typically have some high standards that all students must live up to. Secondly, it’s good for kids to respect other cultures and faiths, and learning about other cultures and faiths is what builds respect. Finally, when applying for college, going to private school is usually looked upon as something good.

There are a number of different Jewish schools that parents can send their children to. Visiting the schools is a must. It will allow parents to ask the right questions. Usually, it’s good to attend schools that are no more than 30 minutes from a student’s home. Also, the costs to attend schools can vary significantly from school to school, so it’s good to find out what the more expensive schools are offering that the others aren’t.

Jermaine Pennant jailed for drink-driving

Tuesday, March 1, 2005

Aylesbury, England — The Arsenal F.C. midfielder Jermaine Pennant, currently on loan to Birmingham City, has today pleaded guilty to drink-driving, driving while disqualified, and driving without insurance by Aylesbury magistrates court. Pennant received a sentence of three months imprisonment. Pennant’s lawyer, Bary Warbutton, has said that the footballer will appeal against the severity of the sentence.

The incident occurred on January 23 of this year, Pennant was arrested after crashing teammate Ashley Cole’s car into a lamppost. The 22-year-old claimed that he crashed the car after attempting to operate the car’s Satellite navigation system.

Despite the claim by Warbutton that imprisonment “could completely destroy his career”, Birmingham City have said that they will stand by the player, and help to rehabilitate him. Arsenal released a statement saying that the sentence would not impact the player’s future with the club; his contract with club expires in the summer, at the same time as his loan-spell with Birmingham ends.

Wikinews interviews Australian Paralympic assistant coach David Gould

Thursday, July 25, 2013

Wikinews caught up with Australian wheelchair basketball coach David Gould in Canberra, where the Australia women’s national wheelchair basketball team — the Gliders — were having a training camp.

Gould told Wikinews he retired from playing after the 2002 World Championships. He said he began coaching able bodied basketball at schools and clubs in South Australia. He was awarded a scholarship by Basketball Australia and the Australian Sports Commission, and became assistant coach of the Under 23 Men’s team in November 2011. He is now national wheelchair skills coach, assistant coach of the men’s and women’s national teams, and coach of the Under 23 Men’s and Under 25 Women’s teams.

He noted the Gliders have another training camp coming up in Brisbane in August. This is to be an open development camp any player can attend. Twelve players are to be selected for the Asia Oceania Zone (AOZ) Wheelchair Basketball Championships in Bangkok in November. The top three teams then qualify for the World Championships, to be held in Canada next year.

He is acutely aware the Gliders have never won a World Championship or a Paralympics. But he has won a gold medal, with the men’s team, the Rollers, in Atlanta in 1996. “We went on a tour of the United States beforehand”, he recalled. Facing the United States in the United States was daunting. There was a huge crowd. So how did they do it? “We had confidence in ourselves, and stuck to our plan,” he recalled.

This, he said, is what he and Glider’s head coach Tom Kyle are trying to teach the Gliders. To believe in the process. They take them out of their comfort zone, show them the right techniques, the right way to do things. The idea is to get the principles right.

Gould told Wikinews they have to look not just to the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio in 2016, but further ahead to 2020. They have to recruit new players and develop them. He said he took a Gliders team to the Osaka Cup with only four members of the 2012 team, in order to give members of the development team experience with international competition. He set up a mentor system whereby the six newcomers were each paired with one of the old hands.

Wikinews was shown how the games are videoed and critiqued by the coaches. Special software allows the videos to be edited. Effects such as circling players can be added, along with captions and audio from the coaches. The edited video can then be downloaded by the players. Gould said there is a weekly video conference with the players.

He considered video of other teams is an important training tool. He noted the Gliders had to play Brazil in the first match of the Paralympics in London, which was very tough, because so little was known about them. As it turned out, Brazil has a great program, and he thinks it could be a contender in front of a home crowd in Rio in 2016.

Wikinews noted one of the Gliders, Amber Merritt, had her arm in a sling. Gould said her arm had been scanned, and the doctors will make their evaluation. Like most elite athletes, he knows about injury first hand. He told Wikinews he had injured his shoulder during the 2000 Olympics, and had to have it operated on afterwards. He said he did not want players playing injured, and sometimes it was better just to lose a week if you have the flu. He expected his players to be honest and up front with themselves, their coaches and their team. “We need everyone on the same page”, he told Wikinews.

Gould told Wikinews the Asia Oceania Zone championships will feature Australia, Japan, China, Thailand, South Korea, and perhaps Hong Kong. The venue in Bangkok is well known to him, as the U23 Men’s team have already played there. His plan is to arrive early, to allow the players to acclimatise to the high humidity and the food. Some of the U23 men got sick. He does not expect difficulty qualifying, but it is “one of the I’s that have to be dotted and T’s that have to be crossed.”

He said Australians intend to apply full pressure, but one of their objectives is also to help the competition. One of the problems in Australia is that it takes a long time to go anywhere, he told Wikinews. By building up the teams in the Asia Oceania Zone, he hopes Australian teams will not have to travel so much or so far to meet first class competition.

UK company “seriously considering” GPS tracking devices in school uniforms

Saturday, August 25, 2007

The leading supplier of school uniforms in the United Kingdom, Lancashire-based manufacturer Trutex, has announced it is “seriously considering” including GPS tracking devices in future ranges of its uniform products after conducting an online survey of both parents and children.

“As a direct result of the survey, we are now seriously considering incorporating a [tracking] device into future ranges” said Trutex marketing director Clare Rix.

The survey questioned 809 parents and 444 children aged nine to 16. It showed that 44% of parents were worried about the safety of pre-teen children, and 59% wanted tracking devices installed in school apparel. 39% of children aged nine to 12 were prepared to wear clothing with tracking devices in them, while teenagers were notably less enthusiastic and more wary of what Trutex has admitted they see as a “big brother” concept.

However, Trutex has claimed the tracking devices would bring about worthwhile benefits, including being a valuable resource for parents who wanted to keep a close eye on where their children were at all times.

“As well as being a safety net for parents, there could be real benefits for schools who could keep a closer track on the whereabouts of their pupils, potentially reducing truancy levels” says Rix.

Each year, Trutex supplies 1 million blouses, 1.1 million shirts, 250,000 pairs of trousers, 20,000 blazers, 60,000 skirts and 110,000 pieces of knitwear to the UK.

It is not the first company to manufacture school uniforms with a central focus on child safety; last week Essex firm BladeRunner revealed it was selling stab-proof school blazers to parents concerned about violence against their children. The blazers were outfitted with Kevlar, a synthetic fibre used in body armour. It has already received orders internationally, including Australia.

If the Trutex tracking devices go ahead, it is unclear where in the uniform they will be located.

bookmark_borderCivil Engineers In Austin Are Responsible For A Safe Physical Environment

byAlma Abell

Civil engineers are responsible for ensuring that people have a functional and safe environment to live, work and play in. They design the roads that people use to get to work, and they certify that the buildings they work in are safe. In today’s complex world, there are very few physical elements that weren’t designed or certified by engineers. Civil Engineers in Austin even review parks and playgrounds. They ensure that the landscape won’t cause flooding onto neighboring properties and that the equipment is safe.

Because of these vast responsibilities, each state regulates the requirements it takes to be a civil engineer. Usually, a person must have an engineering degree from an accredited engineering program and pass a difficult state registration exam. Only people who meet all of the requirements are legally allowed to call themselves civil engineers. All of the plans they design must have their registration stamp. Most states require that they sign the plans as well.

Civil Engineers in Austin may become specialists. Transportation engineers specialize in designing and constructing safe roads, while structural engineers certify that buildings are sound. Hydrologists are engineers that specialize in how water moves through the ground. These specialties often merge, and engineers must work collaboratively. A transportation engineer has to know how to construct a road through difficult terrain. Often, they make steep cuts in the landscape that require retaining walls. The specification of the walls requires understanding how much water in the soil will press against the retaining wall.

Working with a large engineering firm such as Baker-Aicklen and Associates Inc., ensures that a client has access to all of the engineering specialties and that the engineers are used to working together. Local communities usually have boards and inspectors that review the work of engineers. Project managers are engineers that are adept at shepherding projects through the review phase. They can explain a complex project to the public who attend hearings. They can also explain to inspectors why they chose particular layouts, materials and structures.

During the construction phase, project managers keep all of the subcontractors working efficiently. It is their responsibility to make sure that the construction is done in accordance with the plans.
